Fat Transfer
Fat transfer, also known as fat transplantation, is a procedure able to correct skin defects like facial wrinkles and furrows as well as other depressions occurring elsewhere on the body. Fat transfer can re-contour the face and correct deformities on the face or body.
The Fat Transfer Procedure
Anesthesia is administered to the donor site, or the area where the fat is taken from, as well as the recipient site, the area receiving the fat. Once the anesthesia is administered, a needle which is attached to a syringe is inserted into the donor site. The donor site is typically a location with a thick layer of fat such as the buttocks, thighs, or lower stomach. Fat cells are drawn into the syringe, purified, and then re-injected into the recipient area until enough fat has been transferred in order to correct the defect. Full correction usually requires three fresh fat transfers. Once the procedure is completed, a pressure bandage is applied to the donor sites and sometimes the recipient site.
Buttock Augmentation With Fat Transfer
Fat transfer may be used for buttock augmentation to provide a firmer, rounder, higher rear end. It is a good alternative to buttock implants as these can sometimes prove impractical and uncomfortable. With fat injections, a flat butt can be transformed into a perkier backside with a more attractive shape and size.
After The Fat Transfer Procedure
Pain after the fat transfer procedure is minimal and oral medication can control any discomfort that patients experience. Though strenuous activities may need to be avoided for some time, most patients are up and about within a day after the procedure.
