Labiaplasty, also known as labioplasty, labia reduction, vaginal lip reduction or labia rejuvenation, is a procedure to decrease the size and improve the appearance of enlarged or asymmetrical labia minora (the inner labia, or “lips” around the vagina).
At Lasky Clinic, labia reduction surgery is a fairly simple procedure, performed in our state-of-the-art, accredited surgery center under very light anesthesia. It usually takes about one hour, with little discomfort or pain. Small incisions are made to remove any excess tissue or to even out the edges of the labia minora. Sutures (also known as stitches) will be placed where the incisions were made. They should dissolve within a few weeks.
Are You a Good Candidate for Labiaplasty?
If you have a large or irregularly shaped labia that is lowering your self-esteem or causing discomfort from pinching or pulling, you might be a good candidate for labiaplasty. Also, if you’ve given birth, causing your labia to become stretched and enlarged, labiaplasty can also help reconstruct your labia..
Labiaplasty not only improves the appearance of your labia, it can help reduce discomfort by creating a smaller, thinner, more comfortable size and shape. For many, this can also lead to increased confidence, especially with nudity. In general, most patients are able to shower the next day, return to work within 3-4 days, have minimal or no bruising and have intercourse within 3-4 weeks. In most cases, the labia reduction is virtually undetectable after complete healing.
